These high-energy dogs are our favorite breed.
Huskies love to run, pull, dig---anything active!
For thousands of years, Siberian Huskies were bred and depended on by the Chukchi people of northeastern Siberia. The Chukchi and their Huskies worked together to survive in harsh Arctic conditions. Huskies were bred to be friendly and loyal, smart and independent, strong and fast pullers of sleds.
About a century ago, Huskies were brought to the United States as working dogs. Teams of Huskies delivered supplies and mail in remote snow-bound areas. In the 1930's, Siberian Huskies were recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club. Today, you'll find Huskies just about everywhere, but they still love to run and pull!
:
A few years ago, our daughter hooked a pair
of our Huskies up to her kid's scooter.
The dogs loved running and pulling her!
In 2006, we bought a scooter made for this sport.
A year later, in 2007, we participated in Dogs Across America, a nation-wide weekend event for dog drivers.
This sport is super fun for the dogs and us. Most every day, you'll find us out with a pair or two of our dogs on the scooter--rain or shine, vog or fog, day
or night (just attach a flashlight!).
